The New European Bauhaus: Matching aesthetics with sustainability in buildings

On 5 October 2022, Euractiv published a Special Report on ‘The New European Bauhaus: Matching aesthetics with sustainability in buildings’. As part of the Special Report Euractiv created a video and a full article titled ‘The New European Bauhaus, ‘soul’ of the EU Green Deal’.

The article recalls that in June 2021, the NEB high-level roundtable released a joint movement concept paper calling for more concrete steps, like tracking the carbon embodied in buildings, followed by strategies to reduce them – for example, by replacing cement with wood.

The article also links the NEB to the work of the European Parliament on the European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which is currently being revised, urging the Commission to root the NEB initiative in actual legislation.
