Launch of the New European Bauhaus Academy Alliance
The 11th of April 2024 marks the official launch of the New European Bauhaus Academy Alliance at the New European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels. The official launch by Commissioner Iliana Ivanova is a significant step forward in the European Commission’s commitment to enhancing skills and sustainability within the construction sector.
Prof. Andreja Kutnar outlined the Academy’s primary objective is to establish a robust network of training hubs across European regions. This ambitious flagship project aims to accelerate the upskilling and reskilling of architects, engineers, construction workers, and other relevant stakeholders. By fostering partnerships between universities, regional training centres, authorities, and EU associations, the NEBA Alliance will co-create a comprehensive European platform dedicated to training professionals in circular bio-based construction, renovation, and urban transformation.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen endorsed the initiative in her statment:
“I welcome the New European Bauhaus Academy Alliance, a powerhouse of 14 European partners, ready to launch its EU-wide training network. It will be a solid support for Europe’s construction industry, addressing labour shortages and promoting knowledge sharing, including on sustainable bio-based solutions, like the circular use of wood and other innovative materials.”
About NEBA
The New European Bauhaus Academy is developed by an international alliance of relevant educational actors and training providers, organised in regional hubs. The NEBA Alliance, coordinated by the University of Primorska in Slovenia, comprises 14 partners from Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
