The BASAJAUN project, focusing on sustainable wood construction for rural development and urban transformation, was recently finalized. Between 2019 and 2024, BASAJAUN was implemented through a consortium of 31 organizations in 12 countries, with a total budget of €12 million financed by the European Commission. The project was coordinated by Tecnalia in Spain.
The Wood4Bauhaus Alliance wishes to contribute further to the ongoing debate concerning the future role of NEB within the European funding programmes.

Two years after EcoReFibre project started in May 2022, when 20 organizations from seven countries launched the initiative, the consortium met at DIEFFENBACHER in Eppingen and TOMRA in Mülheim-Kärlich to demonstrate the application of research findings and discuss the interim results of the project.

The digiNEB webinar delved into the current state of digitalisation in wood construction. The event emphasised the advancement of integration across design, planning, pre-fabrication, and construction. Companies leading the structural timber design and manufacturing in Europe highlighted wood construction’s potential to amplify the New European Bauhaus (NEB). The need of research, innovation, and education was underscored to strengthen wood’s competitiveness within the construction sector.
The Wood4Bauhaus Alliance and the NEB Academy were presented in an open roundtable discussion about the role of NEB for buildings and construction, during which the important need for more skills development and transdisciplinary research and innovation was highlighted.
